Welcome!

chesapeake alerion is the home page of the Alerion Express 28 Chesapeake Bay Fleet. Members from both the Eastern and western shores of the mid-Bay region share a passion for sailing the "prettiest lady at the dance." We get together at least once a year to enjoy some casual racing and more serious partying. This site includes recaps and photo collections of our prior Rendezvous'. Enjoy!

New Members

Jack and Marti Detweiler are the newest members of the Chesapeake Alerion fleet. They sail Skimmer, hull number 160, out of Spa Creek and are planning to race their AE28 in non-spinnaker class PHRF events on the mid-Bay. Look for them at the finish line.

2010 Rendezvous

Trophy.jpgPut your boat's name on this engraved pewter plate as the regatta winner at this year's rendezvous of the Alerion Express 28 Chesapeake Bay Fleet.
This year's outing will held in Oxford on Saturday, September 25.
By then, wind should have returned to the Tred Avon River after its usual summer hiatus.  Mears Yacht Haven on Town Creek will serve as the base for our shore side activities following an afternoon of casual racing.
The Alerion Express factory team is sponsoring this year's rendezvous and will be hosting a dinner at the Masthead Restaurant to cap off the event.  Joining us will be Patrick Burke, CEO of Pearson Composites, Scott Bryant, Vice President for the Alerion Express and True North lines and Michael Sandusky, Director of Sales for Alerion Express.
All owners are welcome to join us for the festivities.  If you can't get your own boat to Oxford that day, come anyway and help out as crew.  Or join us for refreshments at Mears after the racing and for dinner.  It's a great opportunity to "talk boats" with other owners and the people who build them..

Alerion Factory Rendezvous

See Casey Brennan's log entry here for a recap of this years' Alerion Factory Rendezvous hosted by Pearson Composite's at their site in Warren, RI.

Links

The Links section includes the site of the San Francisco Bay Alerion Express 28 Fleet. This Fleet has a very active racing and social program. I urge you to check out its site for some fantastic photos of Alerions in heavier weather. If you're interested in learning more about the boat itself, this site is a good resource.

The Alerion Express site is the manufacturer's marketing site for the boat and so has very complete information on the Alerion Express 28 and other Alerions in the product line. The Boatyard Bar & Grill is a sailor's hangout in Annapolis and its owner, Dick Franyo, has the good taste to also own an Alerion. SpinSheet is a must-read publication for serious Bay sailors and the site's not too shabby either.
