The Spring Rendezvous was held on June 21. The first full day of summer proved to be windless so no races were held. Make-up races will be held later this summer. For a summary of the day's activities go here.
The Fall get-together is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 6th and 7th. On Saturday, the Alerion's will race as a fleet within a fleet at the Boatyard Bar & Grill Regatta to benefit CRAB. The party following will be hosted by the Eastort Yacht Club. The next morning, Bill Smith will be our host at his home on the Severn River at the western end of the Academy Bridge (Route 450). We’ll sail up the Severn, around St. Helena Island and back to Bill’s house. .
The fastest boat at each rendezvous will take home an engraved, silver plate commemorating the achievement as well as have their boats’ names engraved on the Hoyt perpetual trophy.
The Links section includes the site of the San Francisco Bay Alerion Express 28 Fleet. This Fleet has a very active racing and social program. I urge you to check out its site for some fantastic photos of Alerions in heavier weather. If you're interested in learning more about the boat itself, this site is a good resource.
The Alerion Express site is the manufacturer's marketing site for the boat and so has very complete information on the Alerion Express 28 and other Alerions in the product line. Last year, Annapolis Yacht Sales was appointed the mid-Atlantic dealer for the full line of Alerion sailboats. The Boatyard Bar & Grill is a sailor's hangout in Annapolis and its owner, Dick Franyo, has the good taste to also own an Alerion. SpinSheet is a must-read publication for serious Bay sailors and the site's not too shabby either.
